The Bihar government is preparing an action plan to put the agricultural roadmap on the ground. The fourth agriculture roadmap in Bihar will be implemented from April 1, 2023. Work on this roadmap will be done till March 2028. Bihar government officials say that the preparation of the roadmap in Bihar is in the final stage. It is constantly being reviewed from the level of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Lessons will be taken from the third agricultural roadmap
Officials say that the term of the third agricultural roadmap in Bihar is over. Now the Bihar government is going to implement the fourth agricultural roadmap. While implementing this roadmap, it is being seen where there were mistakes in the third agricultural road map. What level of negligence or deficiency was done. In this they will be improved.
Bihar lags behind in the production of pulses and millets
Wheat, paddy and maize are abundant in Bihar. In their production, it is included in the surplus states of the country. At the same time, Bihar is far behind in the production of oilseeds, pulses and millets. In the fourth agricultural road map, emphasis will be laid on promoting the production of pulses, oilseeds and millets. Apart from this, along with agricultural diversification, value addition, climate friendly agriculture, the focus will also be on layer farming, dairy, fisheries. Development of mechanization, crop demand based market system, integrated farming system, establishment of cold storage, alternative to chemical fertilizers will be included in Bihar government’s fourth agriculture roadmap.
Chaur area will be developed in the roadmap
Chaur area will be developed in the fourth agricultural roadmap. Fish production will be promoted here. Along with this, the Chaura area development policy will be prepared. For the development of Chaur area, there is a plan to produce fish below, electricity above. Private sector will be invited for development along with pisciculture by giving Chaur area on lease for solar energy. There is about 2.5 lakh hectare chaur area in the state. In the first year of the fourth agricultural roadmap, 50 thousand hectare area will be developed.
Agriculture credit cards will be given to more farmers
To make the agriculture roadmap successful, cooperation of banks is necessary. Agriculture loan should be easily available to the farmer. For this, an action plan will be prepared to coordinate between the bank and the farmers. In the next 5 years, about 2 lakh crore agricultural loans will be needed by the farmers. At present, out of 1.64 crore farmers of the state, only 10 percent farmers have got agriculture credit cards. Agriculture credit cards reached more and more farmers. Its blueprint will also be drawn.
